Flat & strip springs

Springs formed, wound or stamped from flat strip, for when you need rotation, a steady pull, a thin axial spring or an electrical contact. Strip from 0.1 mm thick, formed and heat-treated in-house.

Flat spiral scroll spring

Scroll / power springs

Also called flat spiral or clock springs

Strip wound into a flat spiral that stores energy as it's turned and releases it as rotation. Because many turns fit in a small housing, they store a lot of energy for their size. Typical jobs are retracting a cable, a cord or a tape.

Section
Rectangular strip or round wire
Process
Wound on a spiral mandrel, then heat-treated
Typical uses
Spring balancers, cable and hose reels, counterbalances
To quote, send
Torque, number of turns, housing size

Formed strip spring

Constant-force springs

Pre-stressed strip coils that pull with a steady force

A tightly rolled strip that exerts an almost unchanging force as it's pulled out. The force is set by the strip's width and thickness and by the coil diameter, so it can be tuned closely to the load it balances.

Force set by
Strip width, thickness and coil diameter
Mounting
Partly or fully extended, many mounting styles
Typical uses
Medical equipment, counterbalances, door closers, fitness machines, furniture

Target force, extension length, space available

Wave spring

Wave springs

Flat wire formed into waves around a ring

Waves formed into flat wire give the same axial load as a coil spring in much less height. That makes them useful for preloading bearings and seals where space is tight. Single-turn, multi-turn and stacked designs are possible.

Why choose it
Same load, up to half the working height
Design points
Working height(s), stacking tolerance, temperature, fatigue
Typical uses
Bearing preload, valves, compact assemblies
To quote, send
ID/OD, load at working height, environment

Stamped leaf spring contact

Leaf springs & spring contacts

Also called spring plates, shrapnel or metal dome contacts

Stamped and formed strip parts that flex to hold, push or make an electrical connection. They're found in connectors, switches, battery terminals and grounding clips. This is one of the factory's core specialities, and it can supply the part plated and ready to assemble.

Materials
Stainless steel, spring steel, copper alloys (bronze for low resistance)
Finishes
Tin, nickel and other plating; passivation
Typical uses
Connectors, switches, battery contacts, EMI/grounding
